Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday reviewed the preparedness in Dhemaji district to fight COVID19 and took stock of the prevailing situation arising out of the nationwide lockdown.
Sonowal met the heads of the offices at the conference hall of the Dhemaji deputy commissioner, collected ground report from the departments.
He instructed the deputy commissioner to make the public delivery systems transparent to mitigate the crisis in the district.
The chief minister also asked district administration to permit transportation of perishable agriculture products of the district to other places on demand.
During his visit to Dhemaji, the chief minister was accompanied by Assam panchayat & rural development minister Naba Kr Doley.
The CM assured that the state government will supply adequate number of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to the district.
Sonowal directed the health department officials to keep all records pertaining to COVID19 preparedness update.
Dhemaji joint director of health services Dr R Kakati placed before the CM that they collected 85 swab samples in the district so far out of which 77 have been reported negative for COVID19 while results of the rest samples are awaited.
The district health department has readied 3 ICUs and 64 isolated wards to treat COVID19 patients.
However, the district is yet to register any COVID19 positive case.
About 70 per cent of the people sent for quarantine completed their 14-day home stay in the district, he informed.
Dhemaji deputy commissioner Narshing Pawar handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the chief minister during his visit to combat COVID19.
Officers of various departments aided the amount for the Assam Arogya Nidhi.
MLAs – Ranoj Pegu (Dhemaji) and Bhuban Pegu (Jonai) besides Prasanta Phukan (Dibrugarh) and Bimal Borah (Tingkhong) met the chief minister during his visit.
Chief minister Sonowal and others, who arrived at Dhemaji by a chopper left the district for Dibrugarh at around 5 pm.
