Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday applauded Bollywood actor Sonu Sood for arranging a flight to ferry Barak Valley residents, who were stranded in Mumbai.
“Apart from being a great actor, Sonu Sood is a great human being and a good Samaritan to those in need,” Sonowal tweeted.
“I convey my heartfelt thanks for arranging a flight to ferry 180 migrants of Assam stuck in Mumbai to Silchar. Kudos for your gesture,” he added.
Meanwhile, the actor also appreciated the chief minister’s praise and added that he is looking forward to celebrating Bihu with his ‘new family members.’
“It was my pleasure, sir. I am glad I could reunite all the Assamese with their families. Looking forward to celebrating BIHU with my new family members there soon,” Sood tweeted.
The people from Barak Valley remained stranded in various parts of Mumbai and were unable to return to their homes following which the actor arranged an Air Asia flight to bring them from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai to Silchar Kumbhirgram airport.
Sood has already won the hearts of many by extending a helping hand to the people in distress during COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdown.
