Child marriage bid foiled in Hojai

District Legal Service Authority, ChildLine and Police Authorities in Hojai acting on a specific input foiled a child marriage bid at Kaki in Hojai district on Saturday.

As per information, Parents of a 14-year-old girl were all set to marry her to a man who is much elder to her.

However, after knowing the truth he eloped with her lover who is also of the same age and was about to marry.

Acting on a tip-off, DLSA, ChildLine and Kaki Police managed to stop the marriage before it was solemnisation and took the minor girl in their custody.

Soon after that health check of the girl was done.

Later, She was handed over to her parents. Meanwhile, ChildLine have registered a case in this matter.

On the other hand, DLSA General Secretary and Magistrate Pronita Morang have ordered both the parties to be present at the Court on Monday.

Notably, District Legal Service Authority,ChildLine and Police authorities in Hojai have launched a crusade against Child Marriage.

So far over 60 child marriage bids have been stopped this year.
