A chemist has been arrested by Chirang Police on Tuesday as part of their anti-drug efforts.

The chemist has been identified as 45-year-old Nilikhang Wary, son of late Upen Wary of Madhaym village at Runikhata under Runikhata police station in Chirang district.

Chirang additional superintendent of police (headquarter) Prakash Medhi on Tuesday said, “In an operation against organised drugs trafficking, conducted by Chirang Police, today from 3.30 pm onwards in Runikhata market area, one chemist, namely Nilikhang Wary, was arrested.”

the district’s top police officer said the Chirang Police arrested the chemist in connection with illegal sale of drugs.

A number of items have been recovered from the medical store owned by the chemist.

The medical store is located in the Runikhata market area.

the recovered items include 99 strips of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus capsule, each strip containing 24 capsules, 8 strips of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus capsules each strip containing 8 capsules.

A total of 2,440 capsules, an airbag, one mobile handset and a cash amount of Rs 4,310 were recovered from the possession of the chemist, the police officer said.

He also said, “Further follow-up legal action is being taken.”
