Bodoland People’s Front(BPF) Chief Hagrama Mohilary has exuded confidence of forming the Government in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) despite falling short of the magic figure of 21.
Hagrama Mohilary said, “We are confident of forming next Government in BTC and I am willing to bet on it.”
This remark from the BPF Chief comes after the Gauhati High Court ordered the BTC-led by UPPL Chief Pramod Boro to maintain ‘status quo’ and not start governance.
The Gauhati High Court gave this order on Friday while hearing a petition filed by BPF Chief Hagrama Mohilary challenging the constitutional validity of the swearing-in of Pramod Boro as the new BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM).

Mohilary in his writ petition also contended that the rules laid down under Election Rules 2004 were violated.
Hagrama Mohilary while speaking to the media after attending a meet of party workers in Baksa said, “We don’t have an ally at this moment. Only time will decide”.
“We have filed a case in the Gauhati High Court. It is not a conspiracy against any single person,” Mohilary added while responding to allegations of meting out “mental harassment” to Promod Boro.
It may be mentioned here that the single judge bench of Justice Suman Shyam of the Gauhati High Court ordered the council to maintain status quo and not start governance in the Council.
The matter will be next heard on December 22.

Notably, although none of the parties managed to secure majority in the recently concluded BTC elections, the BJP, UPP-L and GSP forged an alliance to form Government in the Council.
