Akhil Gogoi-led Raijor Dal party has alleged that on Tuesday, ‘goons’ of BJP MLA Bhuban Pegu assaulted workers of the party at Kokilamari area in Thowra Assembly constituency in Assam.

“Today, a group of 25 goons under the leadership of BJP MLA Bhuban Pegu beat up our party workers in Kokilamari area of West Pani Dihing Panchayat of Thowra LAC,” Raijor Dal said.

The Raijor Dal further alleged that the ‘goons’ of BJP MLA Bhuban Pegu tore posters and banners of the party’s candidate from Thowra – Dhairya Konwar.

Raijor Dal accused the ruling BJP of using money and muscle power as its last efforts to win the by-polls in Thowra and Mariani seats.

They also tore the poster/banners of our candidate Dhairya Konwar. Scared by the rise of ‘Raijor Dal’, BJP is now making its last efforts to win the by-election in Thowra and Mariani by use of only money and muscle power,” Raijor Dal said.

It added: “We believe that attacks on the workers of our one-year-old party by the goons of BJP proves that the communal fascists are terrified at our progressive, pro-people politics. It is an ideological win against the divisive politics of the fascist forces.”

Raijor Dal further accused the ruling BJP of being ‘autocratic’ and ‘anti-people’.

“Let us all unite to save our state and the country from the autocratic, anti-people forces that the BJP represents,” the Akhil Gogoi led party said.
