A delegation of the Election Commission of India (ECI) will be in Assam for a 2-day tour.

The ECI team will visit Assam on January 11 and 12.

The ECI team review the Commission’s poll preparedness in Assam during their 2-day visit.

The ECI team comprising of several top officials of the Commission will be led by ECI Director General Dharmendra Sharma.

The ECI team will arrive in Assam on January 11.

During their visit, the ECI delegation will meet Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah and other senior official of the State Government to discuss preparedness for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections.

The ECI delegation will also hold a series of meetings with other senior officials of the districts in Assam.

After arriving in Assam on January 11, the ECI team will hold a preparedness review meeting in Dibrugarh with district election officers and Superintendent of Police of 20 Assam districts.

Later on January 12, a similar meeting will be held by the visiting ECI delegation with the other district officers and SPs in Guwahati.

Noatbly, elections to the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly are likely to be held in March-April this year.

Political parties in the State have already started campaigning for the elections.
