Before Assam goes to first phase of Assembly elections on March 27, the Congress party in the State has launched a scathing attack on the BJP over a host of issues.

Senior Congress leader and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who is in Assam as an observer of the Congress party for the Assam Assembly elections, slammed the BJP for ‘failing’ to fulfil their promises made in the last Assembly elections.

Accusing the BJP of doing ‘nothing’ in the entire country, Bhupesh Baghel said that the saffron party try to get votes by creating division and fear in the society.

“BJP try to get votes by creating division and fear only,” said Bhupesh Baghel while interacting with the media in Guwahati on Thursday.

Bhupesh Baghel further exuded confidence that the Assam Congress-led Grand Alliance will form the next Government in the State.

“Assam has decided to throw BJP out of power. Congress-led Grand Alliance will form the Government in the State,” said Bhupesh Baghel.

“Come May 2, BJP will be out of power and Congress will form a Government, which will work for the people of Assam,” Bhupesh Baghel added.

Meanwhile, Assam Congress leader Gaurav Vallabh slammed the BJP for maintaining “double standard” in regards to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

“BJP’s double standard stands exposed when it comes to CAA,” said Assam Congress leader Gaurav Vallabh.

“PM Modi speaks about implementing CAA when he visits Purulia in West Bengal, but doesn’t dare to utter CAA when he is in Jorhat, Assam. Why? What he fears for? He fears that speaking about CAA implementation in Assam would result in people of the State throwing BJP out of power,” said Gaurav Vallabh.
