Congress on Saturday released the first list of candidates for the ensuing Assam Assembly elections 2021.
The list of candidates, selected by the Central Election Committee (CEC) of Congress for the first phase of elections to the Legislative Assembly of Assam, has been signed by CEC in-charge and All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Mukul Wasnik.
As per the list, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora has won party ticket for Gohpur seat, former minister Rakibul Hussain to fight from Samaguri seat while former minister Bismita Gogoi will fight from Khumtai seat.

MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi will fight from Mariani seat, Sushanta Borgohain will fight from Thowra, AICC general secretary Bhupen Kumar Borah will fight from Bihpuria constituency.
Dr Joy Prakash Das won the party ticket for Lakhimpur seat. Former MLA Ghana Burgohain was also a strong candidate who sought party ticket for the seat.
Former ministers Pranati Phukan and Atuwa Munda have won party tickets for Naharkatia and Tingkhong seats.
Assam Legislative Assembly leader and MLA Debabrata Saikia will fight for Nazira seat.
Newly joinee and singer Ajoy Phukan has won party ticket for Chabua seat.
The daughter of former Assam Congress president Anjan Dutta (who died after 2016 Assam Assembly election), Angkita has won party ticket for Amguri seat.
AICC general secretary and former Jorhat MLA Rana Goswami has won party ticket for Jorhat seat.
Former Tezpur MP and an ex-BJP leader, Ram Prasad Sarma has been given Congress ticket for Barchala seat.
The other winners of Congress party tickets are Benudhar Nath – Dhekiajuli, Dr. Anuj Kumar Mech – Tezpur, Abhijit Hazarika – Rangapara, Praneshwar Basumatary – Sootea, Anjan Borah – Biswanath, Sibamoni Bora – Batadroba, Md. Nurul Huda – Rupohihat, Prasanta Kumar Saikia – Kaliabor, Roselina Tirkey – Sarupathar, Bitupan Saikia – Golaghat, Bani Hazarika – Dergaon (SC).
Pallabi Gogoi – Teok, , Suruj Dehingia – Mahmara, Sushil Kumar Suri – Sonari, Subhramitra Gogoi – Sibsagar, Sailen Sonowal – Dhemaji, Dr Hema Hari Prasanna Pegu – Jonai (ST), Pranjal Ghatowar – Moran, Rajkumar Nilnetra Neog – Dibrugarh, Manoj Dhanowar – Lahowal, Dhruba Gogoi- Duliajan.
Sibanath Chetia will fight from Digboi, Manoranjan Borgohain got ticket for Margherita, Durga Bhumij got ticket for Doom Dooma seat and Lakhin Ch Chetia is the party candidate for Sadiya seat.
