In a scathing attack on the BJP, senior BPF leader Ganesh Kachari called the saffron party an outfit of lairs.
Addressing a public rally as part of BPF’s Assam Assembly election campaign at Tamulpur on Tuesday, Kachari said that the BJP never keeps promises made to the people.
“They have shown a lot of false hopes and fake dreams to the people. They promised to do a lot of great work, but have failed to keep those promises now. The promises they made to the people turned into fumes,” said the BPF leader.
He urged the gathering to vote for the BPF candidate from Tamulpur assembly constituency, Rangja Khungur Basumtary in the election scheduled on April 6.
The BJP, which came to power with a promise to expel Bangladeshis from Assam, has so far failed to evict a single Bangladeshi from the state, he said.
Kachari also alleged that the BJP has persecuted the Hindu Bengalis in Assam.
“Many Hindu Bengalis were kept in detention camps in the name of ‘D’ voters and tortured. Many Bengali Hindus were forced to die,” Kachari added.
The BPF leader said that the BJP led by Narendra Modi is running the government with a two-pronged policy.
“The BJP government has deceived the people of Assam by promising to build twin towers, smart cities, express highways on both sides of the Brahmaputra, excavation of the Brahmaputra and so on,” he said.
The BPF leader further said that the prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing during BJP’s tenure.
He said that the BJP government has been politicizing in the name of Hindu-Muslims and is trying to divide the Hindu-Muslim community.
It is 100 per cent certain that a grand alliance with Congress, BPF and AIUDF will form the next government in Assam.
The rally was also addressed by BPF candidate Ranga Khungur Basumtary. He slammed former BTC EM Emanuel Mushahary, who left the BPF and joined the BJP.
A total of 30 people, including six from the BJP, 20 from the UPPL and two from the Gana Suraksha Party, formally joined the BPF on Tuesday.
