The anti-CAB protests turned violent in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Monday.
Two vehicles of the security forces were damaged at Chabua in the district as stones were pelted allegedly by protestors who have opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
The officer-in-charge of Chabua police station Tulumoni Dowerah was also injured in the attack.
Stones were pelted on a Bolero car of the CRPF which was parked at the roadside on the NH 37 in Chabua.

In another incident, stones were pelted at a Gypsy car of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in which the vehicle was damaged.
“Stones also hit the officer-in-charge of the Chabua police station,” said police.
Dibrugarh superintendent of police Gautam Borah suspected the involvement of a third party in the incident.
The police investigation is on.

Meanwhile, the Chabua OC has been admitted to a private nursing home in Dibrugarh for immediate medical assistance.
On the other hand, three members of the All Assam Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti staged a nude protest at the Thana Chariali in Dibrugarh after the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
The activists who staged nude protests have been identified as Dipankar Dowerah, Raj Khan and Arzu Ali.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s home district Dibrugarh has witnessed a series of protests against the bill.
The 12-hour Assam bandh called by the All Assam Chutia Students’ organisation affected normal life in Dibrugarh district.
The students’ organisation burnt tyres on the roads in different areas of the district.
