Another person in Assam was lynched by a group of youths on the first night of the New Year.

The latest incident took place in Golaghat’s Dergaon in Upper Assam.

The person was beaten to death by six to seven youths of the area.

The deceased was identified as Ahom Das alias Sanjay, a resident of Mamoroni gaon in Dergaon.

As per reports, the deceased was accused of stealing a goat and was tied up to a pole while being beaten to death.

His family has, however, denied the allegations stating that he was a daily wager.

He, according to his family, had gone out for some marketing with Rs 5000 with him.

He had gone missing on Saturday as per his family and had also reported it to the police. But, on Sunday morning, his dead body was recovered.

The police have started an investigation and have already arrested two persons of Dergaon.

The arrested persons have been identified as Arnav Bora and Rajiv Bakti.

The police said that more persons behind the incident will be arrested soon.
