The Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) authority has decided to temporarily suspend outdoor patients’ department (OPD) services for a period of two weeks with immediate effect.

However, during the period, regular emergency services will continue as before round the clock.

The step has been taken to depute the medical team in Covid wards, said an official.

As per sources, the number of regular patients in OPD decreased in the last few days in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.

Further, during the period all staff of AMCH, Dibrugarh is directed to remain present in their respective department for rendering their services.

“We have decided to shut down the OPD services for two weeks in AMCH after raising cases of Covid-19,” said an official of the AMCH.

On Thursday, 456 Covid-19 positive cases were detected in Dibrugarh district.
