Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurin Jyoti Gogoi was allegedly attacked by workers of the BJP.

The incident has been reported from Kalag at Baghjani in Nalbari district of the Assam.

The area falls under Barkhetri Assembly constituency.

BJP leader Narayan Deka is the current MLA from the Barkhetri Assembly constituency in Assam.

The convoy of Lurin Jyoti Gogoi was ‘stopped’ and ‘gheraoed’ by the BJP workers.

The BJP workers, who attacked Lurin Jyoti Gogoi are reported to be supporters of Narayan Deka.

The unruly mob of BJP workers were led by president of Upar Borbhag panchayat – Mintu Kalita.

Lurin Jyoti Gogoi said, “This kind of behaviour from the BJP is not a surprise. This was very much expected from the BJP. This is undemocratic.”

Lurin Jyoti Gogoi has further urged the Election Commission to take action in regards to the attack.

“The EC must take stern action in the matter and ensure that no such incidents happen in the future,” Lurin Jyoti Gogoi said.

“The EC must ensure free and fair elections,” Lurin Jyoti Gogoi.

In the exclusive videos and pictures accessed by Northeast Now, the unruly mob of BJP workers were seen carrying BJP party’s flags in their hands.

Meanwhile, the AJP leadership has condemned the attack on its president –Lurin Jyoti Gogoi by BJP workers.
