The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has demanded justice for homeopathic doctor Rahul Basumatary, who has been murdered recently in Jorhat.

ABSU lamented the dashed dreams of the aspiring homeopathic doctor Basumatary, who was found dead in a rented apartment at Chandan Nagar of Jorhat town on Saturday.

The students’ body expressed deep shock and called for justice in the case that has shocked the state.

Talking to media persons in Udalguri on Sunday, ABSU president Dipen Boro said: “We strongly condemn the heinous killing of the aspiring doctor who was relentlessly engaged in Covid19 duty.”

“We urge the Assam government to constitute a high-level investigation and try the case in a fast-track court to provide justice to the victim,” Boro said.

Dr. Basumatary, (26), was the son of Nogen Basumatary and Tirala Basumatary from No. 1 Santipur village of Udalguri district.

He was working as an intern doctor at J K Memorial Homeopathic Medical College in Jorhat.

Basumatary took his Bachelor’s degree from Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery in 2019 from JK Memorial Homeopathic Medical College.

Meanwhile, within 24 hours of the discovery of the body of Basumatary on Saturday morning, police arrested his killer, 24-year-old Diganta Tanti from his residence near Tocklai tea estate at the Rajabari area in Jorhat.
