Police have arrested four persons and recovered different quantities of narcotic substances, cash and a.22mm pistol and live cartridges from their possession.

The four arrested have been identified as Riju Ali, Sanjoy Ghosh, Manuj Baruah and Papu Bhutan.

A case was registered against the four and investigations are currently on.

Acting on specific information the police conducted a raid in the Borpool area of Jorhat on Thursday and recovered about 1. 25 gms of brown sugar and Rs 570 from Riju Ali.

Ali hails from Garmur Kumargaon in the Jorhat district.

Meanwhile, Ali during interrogation revealed the location of three other places where narcotics had been hidden away.

Based on his inputs, the police conducted similar operations in these three locations.

The police recovered 2.55 gms brown sugar from four plastic containers and cash of Rs 20630 from the shop of Sanjoy Ghosh situated near the Bhogdoi bridge.

1 gm of brown sugar was also recovered from Manuj Baruah along with one syringe and Rs 1800.

The police also recovered a .22 mm pistol with four live ammunitions and 1 gm of brown sugar from Papu Bhuyan of Dhapkota.
