Sensation prevails in Hojai after the recovery of a 25-year-old youth’s blood-soaked body with both hands and legs tied with a rope in Hojai railway station.
The body was found lying below the foot overbridge at Hojai railway station platform No.2 on Thursday.
Near the blood-stained body, another seriously injured youth was also found.
After receiving the information, a team of Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot and immediately admitted the injured to Hojai FRU.
The injured has been identified as Vijay Mazumdar, a resident of North Borbil in Karbi Anglong.
The body of the deceased has been sent for conducting post-mortem at Bhogeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital at Nagaon.
Till the filing of this report, the deceased couldn’t be identified.
Later, the police have detained one Birbal Chauhan in connection with the incident.
According to sources, Chauhan is the manager of the construction work which is in progress at the railway station.
Injured Vijay Mazumdar in his statement to the police revealed that around 6-7 persons physically assaulted him in the wee hours on Thursday.
He said the attackers were in totally inebriated conditions
Mazumdar said as he became unconscious, the attackers might have thought him dead and threw him near the deceased.
A team of Lumding Railway Police has arrived in Hojai to investigate into the case.
