Guwahati: A hit-and-run incident on January 26 in Guwahati, Assam has led to the dismantling of a group dubbed the “Siren Gang” and the seizure of 10 illegally modified vehicles, including some belonging to the sons of prominent businessmen and government officials.

The incident began with 20-year-old Arin Kataki, son of an Assistant Conservator of Forest, allegedly fleeing the scene after allegedly hitting and killing a 54-year-old man named Narabahdur Thapa near the Nalapara sub locality.

Through Kataki’s case, police were able to track down and seize nine more such vehicles.

Among the seized vehicles were cars belonging to the sons of a CID inspector and an Assistant Director of Employment.

While the vehicles themselves were registered to the officials and their families, police confirmed that their sons were driving them at the time and responsible for the illegal modifications.

The investigation is ongoing, and further action is expected against those involved.
