As many as 10 Geckos and 10 kilograms of Pangolin skin were recovered by the personnel of the Assam Police and Forest Department in a joint operation. 

The recovery was made in the hill district of Karbi Anglong in Assam on Sunday. 

Two persons have also been arrested by the police in connection with the recovery. 

The arrested duo are personnel of the 11th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn), stationed at Mon district of Nagaland.

It was confirmed by Special DG of Assam Police – GP Singh in a tweet. 

GP Singh tweeted: “@karbianglongpol and Forest team recovered 10 geckos and 10 KG of Pangolin Skin and arrested two persons.”

Geckos are small lizards found in warm climates across the globe. They range from 1.6 to 60 cm long. 

On the other hand, Pangolin skin, which have a very high demand in international black market, scales can cost over 3,000 dollars/kg.
