A four day Bhaona Samaroh was held at Amarapuri Samannay Kshetra, Garehaga, a south-eastern suburb of North Lakhimpur on Saturday with calls to popularize the creation of the great fifteenth Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sakardeva among the younger generation.

The four day event began on January 9 with the hoisting of twelve Dharma Dhwaja (religious flags) and placing of the Thapona by Bishnu Dev Goswami, Satradhikar of Sri Sri Gharmora Saru-Satra, Lakhimpur.

The Bhaona event was inaugurated on that day by Devananda Dev Goswami, the Deka Satradhikar of Sri Sri Auniati Satra, Majuli. The first night’s Bhaona, Pradurnya Parva was performed by Sihnayatra Sankskritik Group from Jorhat.

On the second night of the fete, the Bhaona Dakhya Jagya was performed by Agnigarh Shilpi Samaj, Bengenakhowa, Golaghat. The third night’s Bhaona Dhruva Charitra was staged by Dekagiri Natya Gosthi, Jorhat.

The final day’s Samaroh was inaugurated by Haridev Goswami, Satradhikar of Sri Sri Garmur Satra, Majuli. The Bhaona, Narasingha Murari was staged by Purva Ranga Sankskritik Gosthi, Nitaipukhuri, Sivasagar.

In the competition Narasingha Murari was staged by Purva Ranga Sankskritik Gosthi, Nitaipukhuri, Sivasagar emerged as the best Bhaona followed by Bhaona Dhruva Charitra was staged by Dekagiri Natya Gosthi, Jorhat and Dakhya Jagya was performed by Agnigarh Shilpi Samaj, Bengenakhowa, Golaghat.
