Prices of petrol, diesel and liquors will be cheaper from tonight, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday.
Finance Minister Sarma made the announcement while presenting the vote on account for April-July 2021 in the State Assembly on Friday.
Sarma said the government has decided to roll back 25 per cent cess on alcohol, which was imposed to meet healthcare expenses amid COVID19 pandemic.
Petrol and diesel will cost Rs 5 less from Friday midnight, the Finance minister said.
“Petrol and diesel prices in Assam are going to be cheapest in the country,” Sarma claimed.
The prices of petrol and diesel in Assam currently stand at Rs 90.17 and 84.82 respectively.
