Noted RTI activist and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi will be produced again in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court at Guwahati on Thursday.
Gogoi, who was leading the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) movement in upper Assam, was arrested by police from Jorhat on December 12.
The police later handed over Gogoi to the NIA.
The NIA has leveled charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UAPA].

The FIR lodged by the NIA alleged that Gogoi and several others, “through their visible representation and spoken words… have abetted, incited hatred and caused disaffection towards the government…”
A special NIA court on December 17 had sent Gogoi to 10-day NIA custody.

Gogoi, who is known for his strong voice against the anti-people policies of the government, was taken to Delhi by the NIA sleuths.
The farmers’ leader earlier alleged torture in NIA custody.
“I was severely tortured in the custody. My hands have been tied behind the back and brought to Guwahati from Jorhat,” KMSS leader Gogoi told reporters while he was produced in the NIA court in Guwahati.
In order to produce before the special NIA court on Thursday, the popular leader of Assam, was taken by the NIA sleuths to Guwahati secretly.
The anti-CAA protestors and KMSS members have demanded Akhil Gogoi’s unconditional release.
KMSS protesters also gathered at Chachal area in Guwahati on December 23 demanding the release of Akhil Gogoi, other KMSS leaders Dharjya Konwar, Bitu Sonowal, Manash Konwar besides pro-talk ULFA leader Jiten Dutta.
Forty anti-CAA protestors were also detained by Delhi Police on December 23 who protested in front of the Assam Bhawan in New Delhi demanding the release of KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi.
The agitators, mostly students came out to protest outside the Assam Bhawan in response to a call of Jawaharlal University Students’ Union of All India Students Association (AISA).
