The first skill certification ceremony for the maiden passing out batches of ASTC, Tezpur was held at Albert Ekka Auditorium. Annupma Bedi, Zonal President AWWA presented the certificates to successful sewing machine operator and assistant beauty therapist.

Skill courses at ASTC Tezpur are conducted under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY), the flagship scheme driving Skill India Mission.  With close cooperation between DIAV and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the initiative aims to empower Army and Ex Servicemen spouses, wards and widows to enhance their skills and become an integral part of the Nation’s skilled resource.

Training programmes under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna have been worked out all over India on the basis of National Occupational Standards (NOS) and qualification packs specifically developed in various sectors of skills.

Set up as a partnership between the Union ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship and ministry of defence, the centre provides skill training to both serving and ex-servicemen’s wives and wards. It offered courses on assistant beauty therapist and sewing machine operator. The trainees here are eligible for being sponsored under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY).

On successful completion of the course, the trainees get NSDC certificate, while the training partner will take steps to provide them with suitable placements or guide them to become entrepreneurs.

The zonal president of Army Wives Welfare Association at 4 Corps, Anupama Bedi, inaugurated the centre when it opened, as part of an MoU signed between the Gajraj Corps and its training partner, Orion Edutech Pvt Ltd, affiliated to the National Skill Development Corporation.
