On the day when Assam’s COVID19 tally increased to 1,48,968 on Wednesday, a total of 2,464 other patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from the hospitals.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Wednesday night said: “Discharge Alert. 2464 patients discharged today.”

Sarma claimed 80% of the positive patients have recovered from the disease in Assam.

“Happy that 80% of our patients have won the battle against #COVID19 & have been sent back to their homes,” said Sarma.

With the release of 2,464 more patients, the total number of discharged patients in Assam stands at 1,19,364.

Assam currently has 29,091 active COVID19 cases.

On Wednesday, Assam registered 2,394 new COVID19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 1,48,968.

Of the new positive cases, Kamrup Metro district has reported 556 cases, Dibrugarh 184, Jorhat 161 and Golaghat district has reported 158 cases.

With the demise of 19 more positive patients on Wednesday, Assam’s COVID19 death toll increased to 511.
