Assam has registered 17 more COVID19 positive cases on Sunday taking the total to 346.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the infected patients are from Chirang, Tinsukia, Goalpara, Cachar, Hailakandi and Tripura.

Health minister Sarma said while 4 infected patients are from Chirang, 4 are from Tinsukia and one is from Goalpara district.

He also informed that among the 8 persons, who tested positive for COVID19 at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), 3 are from Cachar, 3 from Hailakandi and 2 are from the neighbouring state of Tripura.

“Alert ~ 17 more #COVID19+ confirmed,” health minister Sarma tweeted at 10.55 pm.

“4 from Chirang; 4 from Tinsukia; 1 from Goalpara; 8 test + at SMCH – Cachar (3), Hailakandi (3) & Tripura (2),” he said.

With the new cases, the number of active COVID19 cases in Assam has increased to 282.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 4 persons while 3 cases migrated from the state.

“Total cases 346. Recovered 57. Active cases 282. Deaths 04. Migrated 03,” health minister Sarma said in his latest tweet.

Earlier, a total of 57 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their complete recovery.

On Sunday, Dr Deepa Deka, a postgraduate student of the Regional Dental College, Guwahati, who was infected in line of duty at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), has been discharged from GMCH after she tested negative twice.

“Something to cheer about amid string of bad news! Dr Deepa Deka of Regional Dental College, Guwahati, infected with #CoronaVirus in line of duty, has been discharged from GMCH after testing negative twice. Another woman patient also relieved, taking the total discharged no to 57,” Sarma said a earlier tweet on Sunday.
