Fourteen more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam on Saturday, taking the state’s overall death toll to 735.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Saturday said: “Very sad and anguished to inform that 14 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”

According to the data, shared by health minister Sarma, on Saturday, 3 persons have died of COVID19 infection in Jorhat, 2 patients each have died in Kamrup Metro and Nalbari districts while one each person has died in Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Kamrup Rural, Cachar, Sivasagar, Lakhimpur and Karbi Anglong districts.

The deceased have been identified as Sujit Kumar Dey (67) of Dibrugarh; Pujari Roy (64) and Mohi Ram Saikia (84) of Kamrup Metro; Subal Chandra Deb (70) of Nagaon; Tarakeswar Chakraborty (49)  and Dhanjit Deka (37) of Nalbari and Gajendra Kalita (65) of Kamrup Rural.

The other deceased have been identified as Tarani Kanto Borah (82), Jayanta Bora (54) and Panchanan Gogoi (63) of Jorhat; Monoranjan Deb (87) of Cachar; Kanak Changmai (75) of Sivasagar; Rani Daley (22) of Lakhimpur and Swapan Chakraborty (52) of Karbi Anglong.

“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief.”

Assam so far has registered 1,83,812 COVID19 positive cases.

A total of 1,48,960 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far.

With the demise of 14 more patients, Assam currently has 34,114 active COVID19 cases.
