In the intervening night of July 14 and July 15, 2018, at about 2:30 am, acting on a tip off regarding movement of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) cadres in Silkatati Part 2 village, a joint operation was carried out by 12 Sikh Li Battalion of the Army, Kokrajhar Police and the Cobra of the CRPF in which two Bangladesh-trained KLO cadres were nabbed.

“At about 4:20 am on July 15, the search party noticed two suspected militants and challenged them. On being challenged, the suspected militants started to flee, but the joint team personnel caught them after a chase,” informed sources.

Sources also said, “On spot interrogation, the individuals revealed their identities.”

The rebels have been identified as 19-year-old Krishna Barman alias Manoj Koch, son of late Sudhish Barman of No 2 Chautaki village in Badrapar under Kokrajhar district and 20-year-old Sambaru Barman alias Khudu, son of late Bhola Barman of No 2 Chautaki village in Badrapar under Kokrajhar district.

The sources also informed that both are December 2016 batch Bangladesh-trained cadres of KLO and presently a part of Serfanguri section of the KLO.

“The cadres have been involved in collection of extortion money and motivating the youth for fresh recruitment in KLO. Search of the individuals led to recovery of two country-made pistols and four rounds of ammunition in their possession. Interrogation is still on,” sources added.
