The Assam Society of Bangalore organized a prayers meet for the two departed souls and staged a silent protest against the inhumane mob lynching incident of Karbi Anglong in Assam that took place recently at Panjuri village under Dokmoka police station in Karbi Anglong.

As per reports, the incident took place when Nitopal Das and Abhijeet Nath, two youths from Guwahati, had gone to a picnic spot in Kangthilangso in Karbi Anglong district on Friday and while returning at night their vehicle was stopped at Panjuri village by a group of villagers, who beat them to death on the suspicion that they were child lifters.

Nitopal was a sound engineer, who came to Assam from Goa on a vacation along with his friend Abhijeet Nath, a businessman and an artist.

They had gone to Karbi Anglong to visit some scenic spots.

In the programme, members of the Assam Society lighted candles and earthen lamps and also displayed placards wearing black clothes to pay tribute to the two youths.

They also demand proper inquiry and strict punishment to the culprits who were involved in the heinous crime.

More than 300 people participated in the programme along with friends and former roommates of Nitopal Das and Abhijeet Nath.

Meanwhile, the general secratery of Assam Society of Bangalore – Hirak Joyti Kakati infromed that they will submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday seeking early justice for the two innocent victims.
