The locals doubt that some ill elements like gambling and wheelplay in the Shivratri Mela might be the cause of his death. They doubt some dispute erupted in the Shivratri Mela and caused his death.

Meanwhile, state tourism, welfare of plain tribes and backward classes minister Chandan Brahma visited the place and took stock of the incident.

Brahma ordered the local police authorities to take all measures to find the cause of death and the miscreants behind it.

The local people have condemned the death of Mohan Hasda and vented their anger against the Chirang deputy commissioner, Gautam Talukadar, as he has permitted the puja organizers for holding the mela in the time of Moral Code of Conduct being in force for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

According to the local residents, they have reported the ill elements of the Shivratri Mela to the local police authority but they haven’t taken any legal measures to stop it.

According to the local people, the police have sided with the mela authority and ignored the anti-social elements associated with it.
