In a tragic road mishap, a school girl lost her left hand as she was hit by a truck while returning from her school in North Lakhimpur.
The accident took place near Leelabati Bordoloi Hindi High School, a few meters away from North Lakhimpur Sadar Police Station on Friday afternoon when a speeding truck bearing registration number AS01FC6961 hit Karabi Handique, a student of Class IX of Nakari HS School from behind.
The school girl was returning home from her school riding a bicycle.
A seriously injured Karabi was rushed to a private hospital where doctors amputated her left hand due to heavy damage.
