The five-day long cycle rally organized by Assam Rifles reached Dharmanagar in Tripura on Monday. The rally started off from Assam Rifles headquarters on January 8. It will cover six districts of Assam and Tripura.

Major Kanwarbir Singh of 30 Assam Rifles battalion, along with officer, JCO’s and 12 Jawans participated in the cycle rally organized to commemorate the raising day to be observed on January 13.

However, the rally will reach Silchar on January 12 where the Raising day will be observed on January 13.

Talking to Northeast Now, the participants said the cycle rally is organized to mark the sixth Raising Day of Inspector General Assam Rifles-East (IGAR) which was flagged-off by Brigadier Ashwini Nayyar on Monday last. The five-day rally heading to Silchar will cover six districts of Assam and Tripura.

The rally is aimed to spread the message of peace, unity and tranquility among the people of Northeast India. The participants are also making efforts to establish contacts with the ex-servicemen.

The rally will cover 339 km to reach Silchar on January 12.
