Assam Rifles is hosting the 9th All India Police Commando Competition in Diphu of Karbi Anglong district in Assam with an objective to improve standard of professional performance of police forces in the country.
The aim of this competition is to enhance physical and mental robustness, shooting skills, test leadership qualities under stressful conditions and foster team spirit amongst the participants, according to Kohima-based Defence spokesman Col. C Konwer
Twenty-two teams comprising eight Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) teams and 14 States Police Forces teams are participating in the event.
The competition includes Small Team Operation (Jungle), Small Team Operation (Urban), Battle Obstacle Course, firing and various physical proficiency tests with Battle loads.
Meghalaya Governor, Tathagata Roy, was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony on Wednesday, wherein a small team of 21 PARA (SF) demonstrated the technique of insertion/ exfilteration by helicopters by slithering as well as Combat Free Fall (CFF).
The artists from Manipur enthralled the spectators with their spectacular drums and dances event titled ‘Rhythm of Manipur’.
Director General Assam Rifles Lt. Gen. Sukhdeep Sangwan exhorted all competitors to put in their best and contribute towards building a strong, effective and professional Police Force in our country.
He also spoke about the resilience and dynamism exhibited by Assam Rifles in contributing immensely towards maintaining peace in the NE region.
