One person has been arrested on Monday in connection with the sensational incident where the manager of Canara Bank, Mangaldai branch Ananda Kumar was attacked  in his residence on Saturday evening.

The arrested miscreant has been identified as one Mirza Mohammad Saleh, son of one Aainul Hoque, a resident of village No1 Sialmari under Dalgaon police station.

However, the prime accused in the case Aainul Hoque, the father of the arrested youth and VDP secretary of the village are still stated to be absconding.

It may be mentioned here that bank manager Kumar was attacked allegedly in a pre-planned manner with blunt iron items, brick etc at the residence of the accused Aainul Hoque on Saturday evening after being invited by the later to repay the overdue amount of bank loan issued to purchase his tractor.

The seriously injured bank manager was rescued by police with the help of some local student leaders in a semi-conscious state.

Later, the victim bank manager lodged an FIR against Aainul Hoque and his family members engaged in the organized attack.

Meanwhile, talking to Northeast Now, superintendent of police, Darrang, Amrit Bhuyan stated that ASP (HQ) of Darrang Ujjjal Protim Baruah is supervising the case.

One accused is arrested and remanded to judicial custody and other absconding accused also will be booked very soon, the SP added. The police in this connection have already registered a case No 121/19 U /S 120(B), 420/333 /307 of the IPC at Dalgaon police station.
