Nagen Bora, one of the forefront leaders of the Assam Movement, died at the age of 82 at his home in Namrup under Dibrugarh district on Sunday.

He was the founder of the Namrup regional unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) and advisor of the Naharkatia sub-division unit and Namrup regional unit of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).

Bora was also associated with the Namrup Senior Citizens’ Forum.

Nagen Bora started his service career at Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) in mechanical department in 1998.

A number of organisations including Namrup Press and Society, Namrup regional unit of AJYCP, Namrup regional unit of AGP, Asom Gana Yuba Parishad, Fertilizer Workers Union, Fertilizer Shramik Union, Namrup Senior Citizens’ Forum, Namrup unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Namrup Lekhika Samaroh along with the locals mourned the demise of Bora.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s State executive member Ranjit Baruah also mourned the demise of the Assam Movement leader.
