Meanwhile, prospective candidates have started lobbying with the ruling district party presidents of the Bhratiya Janata Party (BJP) from three months back for the much awaited Town Committee elections in the twin hill districts of Karbi Anglong.

The election will be a test of the popularity of Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang and the BJP.

The Town Committee elections in the district are important for the BJP as Lok Sabha election is approaching which will be a test for the party in urban areas.
