The Jorhat district administration took care to allay the fears of the flood affected at Malowkhat and Solmara areas of the district in Eastern Assam.

The Bhogdoi River had breached its embankment at the two places on Wednesday evening.

A counsellor of the district child protection unit (DCPU) counseled the children and their families to reduce stress and trauma arising out of floodwaters inundating their homes.

At the Borbhetti relief camp the supervisor arranged for early childhood care and education (ECCE) and a grandmother of the area narrated stories to the children in the camp.

District Information and Public Relations Officer Sarodi Gogoi informed that since morning two boats of SDRF were working in Radhanijan area and two other boats have been kept in readiness at base.

She further said that four boats of NDRF have been placed at Malowkhat area for necessary evacuation and that two of the boats were in action  while the other two were kept in readiness.

At the Malowkhat high school the numbers of inmates are 363, at Borbhetti LP School it is 56 and in Rowmari LP School there are 47 inmates.

The other proposed relief camps are 45 gaon panchayat office, Gharphalia High School, Malow Ali High School and Jatiya Vidyalaya

The Joint Director, Health also took stock of the situation and visited relief camps of flood affected areas of Solmara BPHC.

A team under doctor Makhan Saikia talso checked the inmates at Malowkhat area and distributed medicine.
