Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi in a review meeting at the Circuit House at Nalbari on Thursday

Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi visited Nalbari district on Thursday and held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and heads of the departments and took stock of the developmental works along with prevailing law and order in the district. This was stated in an official press release.

Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari, Sanjeeb Kr Das while apprising the Governor of the developmental projects being undertaken in the district said that the district administration has been on its toes to extend the fruits of governance to all sections of the people of the district.

Governor Prof Mukhi asked Superintendent of Police Shiladitya Chetia to maintain law and order of the district in view of the ongoing NRC verification process which is going on in the district.

SP Chetia also informed the Governor that there is no law and order issue and peace and harmony has been prevailing throughout the district.

While chairing a review meeting with all the heads of the departments at the conference hall of Nalbari Circuit House, the Governor took note of the status of health and hygiene, drinking water, cleanliness, education, road and communication, agriculture among others.

Taking a keen interest in welfare of the farmers, the Governor asked the District Agricultural Officer to adopt measures to double the farmers’ income and introduce cash crops in the system of farming.

He also emphasised that adequate arrangements should be put in place to provide right value of farmers’ productions and asked the Deputy Commissioner to monitor it.

Regarding NRC, the Governor has directed the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that no Indian be excluded and no foreigner be included in the NRC list.

The Governor expressed satisfaction on the performance of Ujjwala scheme which has achieved phenomenal success in the district.

To invoke swachhata in every aspect, the Governor asked the Deputy Commissioner to undertake sudden visits to educational institutions, government offices, hospitals etc.

He also directed the DC, head of the departments and heads of the educational institutions to strictly adhere to cleanliness besides making it mandatory for every institution to dedicate the first hour of their office on seventh day of every month for ‘swachhata’ and asked the Deputy Commissioner to inspect at least six places on the same day from 3 pm to 4 pm as a part of cleanliness drive.

Governor Prof Mukhi also visited Mukunda Kakoti Civil hospital in Nalbari Town and interacted with the patients there.

He also asked the hospital authority to ensure complete cleanliness and present the humane face of the hospital.

Later he visited the office of the District Transport Officer and took stock of the system put in place to deliver public service, the release added.
