The family of Gyanendra Rajkhowa, who was shot dead by police in Golaghat on Wednesday, has lodged an FIR against Golaghat Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Partha Pratim Saikia.
According to information, sensation continues to prevail in the Habiyal village of Dergaon under Golaghat district in Assam after Gyanendra Rajkhowa was shot dead by police on Wednesday after he allegedly attacked four persons near a polling station during Panchayat polls.
The family of Gyanendra Rajkhowa has also demanded a high-level probe into the incident.

Besides, the deceased’s family has also demanded that Golaghat DSP Partha Pratim Saikia be arrested with immediate effect.
A case (No 1054/18) has also been registered against DSP Saikia under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The FIR was lodged by Nagen Rajkhowa, the father of the deceased.
Gyanendra Rajkhowa, who was a former Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, died after being was shot at by police at Habial village in Khumtai in Golaghat district at around 10.30 am on Wednesday after he had created panic among voters coming cast their votes in panchayat election.
Thirty-five-year-old Gyanendra Rajkhowa succumbed to his injuries at KK Civil Hospital in Golaghat.
Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
A local villager, Sotai Das said, “Gyanendra attacked me with an iron rod when I was on my way to cast my vote at the polling station at Habial LP School and tried to attack other people. Four people sustained minor injuries and he fled from the spot. Later a large police contingent arrived to capture him.”
The the father of the deceased, Nagen Rajkhowa, alleged: “When the police party came to our house located at a distance of one km from the polling station, they asked my son to come out and I also advised him to surrender before the police. He went outside and started argument with police and showed them a Dau (machete) and the police, without warning, started firing at my son.”
The deceased’s father also said, “My son was a BSF jawan. He retired seven years ago and since then he has been at home doing cultivation in our paddy field. He got separated from his wife and started to lose mental balance. He could have been captured by using some other non-lethal measures but he was murdered at my courtyard.”
Meanwhile, Golaghat Superintendent of Police (SP) Manabendra Deb Rai said, “The police team led by DSP, Partha Protim Saikia, went to the house of the deceased to arrest for disturbing the election process and injuring three persons. He tried to chase away policemen with two daggers and police fired from shot gun to disperse him but he did not retreat. Then the DSP blank-fired four rounds but the deceased kept threatening the police team and one of our jawans then fired aiming at his leg.”
