Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal in a review meeting of Industries and Commerce Department at the conference room of his office at Janata Bhawan on Tuesday.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday said Assam is endowed with the best industrial climate for investment and asked Industries and Commerce Department to execute ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in right spirit to facilitate flow of investment in the state.

Chairing a meeting of Industries and Commerce Department to assess quantum of investment in the state in the aftermath of Advantage Assam: Global Investors Summit, chief minister Sonowal asked the department to woo investors.

It may be noted that post Advantage Assam: Global Investors’ Summit, investment to the tune of Rs. 57,437 crore have already been grounded in different sectors. Moreover, investment proposals to the tune of Rs. 15,925 crore are in the pipe line.

Chief minister Sonowal also enquired about the investments that have gone for commercial production and asked Industries and Commerce Department along with other line departments to maintain a congenial atmosphere for the companies to keep their production ticking.

In the manufacturing sector the companies like Patanjali, Dabur India Limited, Emami, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Britannia and others started their commercial production in the state. Moreover, in pharmaceutical sector production activities of the companies like Sun Pharma, Pure and Cure, Ajanta Pharma and others have already taken off.

Further, commercial production in the sectors like hotels and hospitals has started yielding benefits.

Sonowal also asked Industries and Commerce Department to take up Business Reforms Action Plan for the improvement of Ease of Doing Business in the state.

It may be noted that under Assam Ease of Doing Business Act, 2016 which was passed in the very first session of the present State government, a Single Window Agency was established and 405 Business to Government (B2G) services across 34 government departments are available online for clearance.

Chief minister Sonowal also took stock of the implementation of National Bamboo Mission in Assam.

He asked Industries and Commerce Department and Mission Director to aggressively pursue different components of the mission like propagation and cultivation, product development and processing, promotion and development of infrastructure for bamboo market and skill development and awareness campaign.

Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary was also present at the event.
