The Dhubri district administration on Wednesday carried out a raid in two godowns located near the Eidgah field in Dhubri town and seized 570 quintals of rice meant for Public Distribution System (PDS).

The raid was carried out by an inspection squad consisting of officials of the Food and Civil Supply branch led by Executive Magistrate of Dhubri, S Chetri.

S Chetri, Executive Magistrate, Dhubri said, “Acting on a tip-off, the inspection team launched a search drive in two godowns near the Eidgah field and seized illegal stocks of rice meant for PDS worth Rs 18 lakh.”

In this connection, apart from conducting a proper inquiry, an FIR would also be lodged against the alleged proprietors, who have been identified as Aminur Islam Sk, proprietor of AS Enterprises and Abdur Rahman, proprietor of AR Traders, respectively, as added by S Chetri, Executive Magistrate of Dhubri, who led the drive.

Sources further revealed that the proprietor of AS Enterprises, Aminur Islam Sk has been identified as the son of the chairman of Dhubri Marketing Regularities Authority.
