Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday inaugurated the Billeswar Devalaya Development Project at the 500-year old temple in Belsor under Nalbari district.

Informing this on his Twitter handle, Assam Chief Minister Sonowal stated on Monday, “Inaugurated the Billeswar Devalaya Development Project at the 500-year old temple at Belsor, Nalbari.”

The Chief Minister also stated that he took blessings of Goddess Durga on the occasion of Mahashashthi, the first day of the Durga Puja festival in the historic Billeswar Devalaya in Nalbari.

“Also took blessings of the Goddess on the auspicious occasion of Mahashasti at the historic temple along with thousands of devotees,” Sonowal tweeted further.

Earlier on the day, Chief Minister Sonowal also offered prayers to Goddess Durga at Puthimari Barowari Sri Sri Durga Puja & Sri Sri Shyamakali Puja mandap at Puthimari in Kamrup (Rural) district.

Sonowal tweeted: “Offered prayers to Maa Durga while taking part in centenary celebrations of Puthimari Barowari Sri Sri Durga Puja & Sri Sri Shyamakali Puja at Puthimari, Kamrup.”

“Established in 1919, this historic puja is one of the major attractions of Puthimari during the festive season,” added Sonowal.
