Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday visited the residence of CRPF’s martyred jawan Maneswar Basumatary at Tamulpur in Baksa district on the occasion of his adya shradha and offered his deep tribute to the brave soldier.
Maneswar Basumatary lost his life in the insurgent attack at Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir on February 14, 2019.

Sonowal handed over an appointment letter to the martyr’s daughter Didwmsri Basumatary in the post of Assistant Tourist Information Officer under the Directorate of Tourism, Assam.
Her appointment has been approved as a very special case and in relaxation of existing rules, provisions and guidelines.
Chief Minister Sonowal while interacting with the family members said that heroes like martyr Maneswar Basumatary would continue to inspire generations of people to serve the nation with commitment and dedication.
Martyr Basumatary was one of the 44 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who died when a terrorist blew a vehicle loaded with explosives while a convoy of 78 vehicles was driving down the Srinagar-Jammu highway near Awantipora on February 14, 2019.
The incident, touted as the worst-ever attack on security forces in Jammu & Kashmir valley, was condemned by the leaders across the world.
Earlier, the Assam government handed over a sanctioned letter amounting Rs 20 lakh to the martyred CRPF soldier Maneshwar Basumatary’s wife in Tamulpur under Baksa district.
The cheque was handed over to martyred CRPF soldier Maneshwar Basumatary’s wife Sunmati Basumatary in the presence of Assam Chief Minister’s media advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, State PHE Minister Rihon Daimary and Tamulpur MLA Emanuel Muchahary including other BJP leaders at Kolbari village in Tamulpur recently.
