Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday reviewed the law and order situation of the State in a meeting held at Brahmaputra State Guest House and discussed about the dastardly act of violence on CRPF jawans at Pulwama in Kashmir on Thursday by militants.

He directed DGP Kuladhar Saikia to take all necessary steps to ensure that the law and order situation in the state does not get disturbed and the forces inimical to the State’s interests are not allowed to raise their heads.

Chief secretary Alok Kumar, additional chief secretary of Home and Political, Kumar Sanjay Krishna and other top officers of the government were present in the meeting.

The chief minister, through a statement, also condemned the suicide attack on the CRPF jawans at Pulwama by militants and said such dastardly acts would not be able shake the morale of the Indian security forces.

Paying deep tributes to the martyred soldiers, Sonowal wished for the speedy recovery of those who got injured in the incident.

The chief minister also extended his condolences to the family of the martyred soldier Maneswar Basumatary who hailed from the State and said that his sacrifice in the line of duty would be remembered by the whole nation.

His martyrdom would keep inspiring all those engaged in protecting the country and make the fight against terrorism more intensified, he said.
