During the State Cabinet meeting, chaired by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the Janata Bhawan here on Tuesday evening, it was decided that ex-servicemen recruited before 2005, with service span above 10 years and below 20 years will receive pension.

This was informed by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) through its official Twitter handle on Tuesday evening.

The CMO also tweeted: “The Cabinet approved special recruitment drive to clear backlog of seats reserved for Divyangjans through State Level Police Recruitment Board.”

The Cabinet also approved measures for increasing supply of construction materials like sand and stones to address scarcity of these items.

Besides, the Cabinet approved amendment of Assam Minor Mineral Concession Rules 2013 to allow auction of valuable minerals like Granite, Silica & China Clay. This will provide huge boost to industrial sector in the State, the CMO also added.

According to sources, the Cabinet also approved e-auction for commercial use of granite, silica sand, china clay found in Goalpara and other districts which were earlier used as stone vide modification of Assam Minor Mines & Mineral Concession Bill 2013.

It was also decided that the Guwahati Development Department (GDD) will prepare special proposal for Waste to Energy project by using waste of Guwahati and its adjoining areas.

Besides, as per the Cabinet decision, Water Resource Department will carry out a pilot project to identify ways to set up new industries by using the sands to be collected through dredging of river Brahmaputra.

The Cabinet further decided to take steps for increasing supply of construction materials like sand and stones in order to solve the issue of scarcity of such building materials.
