'Iftar' party in Goalpara. Northeast Now

The Army Camp at Balijana initiated an ‘Iftar’ party in Markaz Darul Yatama (Orphanage) in Goalpara district on Saturday for the orphans at sunset when the Muslims break their day-long fast in the holy month of Ramadan.

More than 700 people including orphans and locals, top administrative, police officers and Army personnel attended the party.

The representatives of all sections of the society keenly expressed that the hosting of the ‘Iftar’ party was one of the ‘significant endeavours’ to pursue the path of brotherhood, peace and harmony in Goalpara.

Col Vivek Bhatt, Commanding Officer, Army camp, Balijana, conveyed his best wishes to all present and also prayed to the Almighty Allah that the holy month of Ramadan may bestow them with unity, happiness and a feeling of brotherhood which leads to the path to prosperity and tranquility.

Besides the orphans and locals, the ‘Iftar’ party was attended by Hafiz Bashir Ahmed Kasimi, MLA from Bilasipara, who is closely associated with the orphanage, AK Rashid Alom, MLA of Goalpara East, Omar Sharif, ADC, Goalpara, Chandan Bargohain, election officer, Goalpara, Nabanit Mahanta, APS, Goalpara, Anower Hussain, DSP ( Border & HQ), Goalpara and Barnali  Das, executive officer, Goalpara Municipal Board.

Moreover, circle officers of Matia and Balijana, chairman of Goalpara Municipal Board, president of Goalpara Press Club and some other dignitaries were present at the ‘Iftar’ party.

The Army thanked the participants for their support and cooperation and carry forward such efforts in the near future.
