An Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) delegation on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed with him various issues concerning the state.

The team also apprised the Prime Minister about the prevailing situation in the state.

The delegation was led by AGP president and Assam agriculture minister Atul Bora.

Apart from Bora, the AGP team included Rajya Sabha MP Biren Baishya, Assam IT & water resources minister minister Keshab Mahanta and Assam food and civil supplies minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury.

Working president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former union health & family welfare minister J.P. Nadda was also present in the meeting.

“It was a courtesy call to Prime Minister Modi,” said Baishya.

During the day, the AGP delegation also met union home minister and BJP’s national president Amit Shah.

AGP is one of the partners in Assam’s coalition government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Informing about the meeting with the AGP delegation, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on its official Twitter handle on Thursday stated: “A delegation from the Asom Gana Parishad called on PM @narendramodi.

The delegation included Shri Atul Bora (President AGP), Shri Biren Baishya (MP, Rajya Sabha), Shri Keshab Mahanta and Shri Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Ministers in the Assam Government.”
