The 22nd death anniversary of Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary, the dynamic Bodo student leader was observed as Anti-Terrorism Day in Kokrajhar of Assam on Monday.

In the beginning, the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) flag was unfurled by Pramod Boro, president, ABSU followed by floral tribute at the tomb initiated by Bhanumoti Basumatary, wife of Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary.

It was followed by a signature campaign against terrorism by the guests and dignitaries present in the event.

A blood donation camp was also organized in connection with Anti-terrorism Day.

An open session on the theme ‘New Face of Terrorism versus path to peaceful society’ was held later in the day.

Anti-terrorism Day is observed in the Bodo heartland of Assam on the death anniversary of Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatry, the dynamic leader of the ABSU.

ABSU believes in democracy and non-violence, so the union never believes that the killing of some individual is a solution of any problem.

The ABSU leadership appealed to all the fellow citizens to refrain from violence and all forms of terror to give peace a chance for better human survival with dignity.

The open discussion was inaugurated by Rwn Gwra Narzary, MCLA BTC and former president ABSU.

In his speech, he stressed about rooting out the new face of technology enabled terrorism and appealed the youth of the present times to avoid all forms of anti social activities, which has become the element of the terrorism of the day.

The keynote address was delivered by Pramod Boro, president of ABSU.

In his address, he opined that the Bodo society has experienced all stages and forms of terrorism.

The time has come to explore better and affirmative message has to be sent out to establish democratic non violent society spreading awareness against the terrorism, he said.
