Seven positive cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) have been detected at Diphu Civil Hospital in Karbi Anglong district of Assam.
The number of suspected JE cases admitted to the Diphu Civil Hospital is 9 till Tuesday.
Out the 9 suspected JE cases, 7 have been detected as positive cases.
The JE patients admitted to the Diphu Civil Hospital are all children aged between 1 to 3 years.

Meanwhile, the district programme officer of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Obed Killing, informed that the people are being sensitised about Japanese Encephalitis and to stay alert.
Activities like public announcement using public announcing system has been used to alert the people about Japanese Encephalitis and its precautionary measures.

Blood slides collection from Japanese Encephalitis affected areas, treating of bed net (mosquito net) with insecticide and fogging in affected areas to ward off mosquitoes are being done, said Killing.
Till now there is no case of death due to Japanese Encephalitis in Diphu Civil Hospital.
In Karbi Anglong district, the first case of Japanese Encephalitis was detected at Chowkihola area last week.
It may be mentioned that the death toll of Japanese Encephalitis affected people has been on the rise across Assam.
The death toll of Japanese Encephalitis victims in Assam has already crossed 50.
Due to rise in the death toll, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently announced that all the Japanese Encephalitis patients would be treated free of cost in all the medical colleges and government hospitals of the state.
