In a road mishap that took place in Pathsala in Barpeta district on Sunday evening, one 23-year-old Pankaj Modahi died on the spot while four others sustained injuries.

The deceased was a resident of Bishnupur under Barbari Police Station in Baska district.

According to information, there is also a girl among those who sustained injuries in the road mishap.

The mishap took place at around 5.30 pm on the National Highway 31 near the College Road at Pathsala.

Eye witnesses said, Pankaj Modahi, the deceased, who was riding an Apache bike, first hit one girl, who was driving a scooty (As 15 F 9830) which led to the collision of a four-wheeler (Swift As 01-DB-1926 ) and a Pulsur bike (As 13-D-1035 at the same time.

Sensation prevailed in the area soon after the incident and the locals have alleged that the road in the recent times has turned out to be a deathtrap and accident-prone due to the incomplete construction work of the NH 31 which is being carried out by KMC Constructions Limited.

The injured have been identified as Madhusmita Das, Bonita Das, Deban Modahi and Sujit Sarma.
