Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein on Monday called upon all to wage a war against drug abuse and its illicit trafficking.
Mein made this appeal in his speech while declaring the 40th Annual College Day celebration of Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) here open.
Mein while expressing serious concerns over the youths leaning towards drugs abuse, Mein said, “Drug abuse can be completely eliminated with good moral values and awareness among youths.”

“Our teachers and parents have a great impact on students, so they should make them conscious about its ill-effects,” the DCM said.
While speaking on the occasion Mein said the state government is committed to provide quality, affordable and inclusive education to all.
He emphasized that besides education, the state government is also equally focused on providing the best healthcare services to its people.
Lauding the DNGC for raising the educational standards in the Capital and state, the DCM appealed to the students to engage themselves equally in studies, sports and cultural activities to achieve holistic development of personality.
Mein called upon the students’ community to acquire as more skills and knowledge as possible to succeed in the present day’s highly competitive environment.
He advised them to inculcate reading habits and make best use of libraries.
Further highlighting the importance of conserving one’s culture and identity, Mein urged the seniors present to educate the younger generation on the same so as to ensure the value of culture and heritage is preserved.
Earlier, Mein inspected NCC parade and ignited the Olympic torch to declare the College Day celebrations open.
Among others, MLAs Jikke Tako and Laisam Simai and college principal Dr N T Rekam also spoke on the day.
